Frequently Asked Questions

Here’s a list of frequently asked questions, and responses. We’ll continue to update this section with new content as the UnboundID Labs section grows.

What is UnboundID Labs?

UnboundID Labs is a playground where customers and curious users alike can kick the tires of projects, prototypes and anything else we post that hasn’t yet been “productized”.

What should I expect from experiments in Labs?

Each experiment is different and in various stages of development. We strive to provide high quality bits; they are volatile in nature, though, so use them at your own risk.

What will happen to these experiments over time?

Some may become products, others will continue development in Labs, and some will disappear into the ether, never to be seen again.

Why are we doing this?

The UnboundID Lab gives us a venue to test the waters on projects that don’t otherwise have a home.

What happened to that project I was just using last week?

If you don’t see it, we probably retired it. If you want it back, we’ll be creating forums where you can let us know.

I like an experiment and want to provide feedback. Whom do I contact?

Send an email to What is UnboundID Labs? and we’ll direct it where it needs to go.

What license are the experiments under?

In most cases, the UnboundID free license. We will indicate where that’s not the case.

Can I get the source?

Depends on the project – we’ll try to make source code available where it makes sense based on our work.
